Sunday the 6th of July 2008 will mark the 30 year celebration of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon.

Since 1979, the event has grown into the one of the largest and best marathons in Australia and is recognized internationally for it’s flat and fast course, another reason that attracts elite athletes to compete in this premier event.

Corporations and Public Relations manager for Gold Coast Events, Stephen Lock, talks about the event and its preparations, plus Senior Lecturer for Tourism at Griffith University, Ken Butcher comments on the tourism benefits and aspects that surround it.
