Child Protection on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast was labeled as a hot spot for abuse and also a place that doesn’t get much funding.

Most centers that provide homes, counseling and support in general are independent.

The domestic violence contact house on the Gold Coast is funded from the local Rotary club as well as pacific fair.

For an issue like this it’s surprising that the funding doesn’t directly come form the government. Most places that offer this support also don’t offer the required services that people need.

One of the main issues talked about is the effect that foster care can have on a child, especially when they are thrown into different housing constantly and different environments.

This issue brought up the subject of permanent housing and the lack of long-term housing.

Mostly on the Gold Coast there are a lot of small independent organisations that offer housing, the feature mostly took on this issue of the great work the small places do.
