Griffith Centre for Coastal Management Director Professor Rodger Tomlinson says the housing developments from the 1970s have created erosion problems for our coastlines but the other major threat to our beaches is global warming.

Strategies to protect the beach for the future include sustainability, community education and maintenance of foreshore, waterways and coastal areas.

Without strategic planning from Griffith Centre for Coastal Management and other organizations the threat of climate change will not only affect coastal properties it will also flow into canals and river systems and will be as far reaching as Nerang.
