“Just a Realistic Backup”

A Radio Feature for Sunshine Radio by Amy Church.

A feature about how studying university degrees are becoming more of a realistic backup, rather than actual career paths for some current Griffith Gold Coast University Students.

Why do we may come to university? Usually most students attend tertiary education to learn new skills to further aid them in their chosen career path, but for a small minority of university students, studying degrees is just a “Realistic Backup”.
But why do people put themselves through all the years of study and continue to struggle with juggling university work loads, casual jobs, whilst trying to keep their passions for their dreams alive?
They do it because of the “What If” factor. The “What if” stripping, singing or rock and roll doesn’t work out, they do it so that they have a realistic degree to back them up if all other hopes and aspirations fail.
To give them more experience and skills to better their future prospects, so employers will want them over other university leavers.
