Take Note, Gold Coast Music Scene Alert!

The Gold Coast music scene is in trouble. The Gold Coast also has only six to seven licensed live music venues for bands to showcase original music as opposed to Brisbane’s fifteen venues just in the city.

Venues in Surfers Paradise have been closing their doors at a steady pace with three across the city shutting their doors in the last two years to make way for nightclubs and hotel construction.

Bands are finding new ways to get around the venue drought with Myspace promotion and shows at private parties but will it be enough?

A new venue ‘The Cavern’ has opened up at Nobby’s Beach showcasing local talent almost every night of the week which has assisted in providing another musical hub.

But are venues all the Gold Coast needs for a flourishing music scene?
