The Bright Side of Life is an ironically named hospice and respite facility in the New South Wales northern rivers region.

Founding director and nurse Gillian Cooper built the facility with her own funds and has manned it for the past five years.

Gillian is now terminally ill herself.

The Bright Side of Life is currently under threat due to lack of funding in a region already desperately lacking in palliative care beds.
