Loneliness under international students

Being an international student is a life changing experience. For some it’s easy, but for most it’s a rather tough experience.

In a recent study conducted by NUFFIC, it was found that two third of all international students in Australia experience loneliness and isolation. According to the study, students feel lonely because they have difficulties coping with the loss of contact with family and other personal networks.

Most universities in Australia are aware of the loneliness and isolation of international students. Griffith University has over 10,000 international students and is one of the most internationally oriented universities in Australia.

What does Griffith University do to ensure that their international students are comfortable with their stay in Australia? And, is it enough?
